Store bought soap has cheap synthetics in the formula that make the soap bubble more, feel wetter, and help the bar last longer. By using synthetics the big cosmetic companies can make more soap at a low cost. That's why you can buy a bar of soap or skin cleanser, as I call it, for .69 cents each or so. Your skin will feel dry after your bath so now you need a moisturizer to help your skin feel better, (there is nothing wrong with using a good skin moisturizer) meanwhile all your natural oils on your skin have been cleansed away from the store bought soap. This doesn’t happen with BSK handmade soap. BSK only uses the best oils and luxury butter like shea butter and cocoa butter to make soap and BSK will make soap in small batches to ensure quality. BSK only uses vegan oils, no animal fats.
There can be additional reasons why store bought soap will feel bad on your skin. You could have hard water or you may be bathing in too hot of water. This can also affect how handmade soap feels on your skin. So if this happens when using a good natural soap you may have hard water or try turning down the hot water a little.
Store bought soap is good at leaving soap scum around the perimeter of your bath or shower that is unsightly and hard to clean. BSK soaps are made with one of four formulas and each formula has citric acid added which will prevent soap scum and actually help preserve the free oils in the soap that did not get saponified from going rancid. Those “free” oils will help your skin feel soft and clean after bathing. When citric acid is added to the soap making process it turns into sodium citrate which removes any metal ions in the oils and will help prevent soap scum from building up. The “free” oils in BSK soap are called super fat. BSK soap super fat is set at 8%. Store bought soap can be 3% or lower. The higher the super fat the more moisturizing and gentle the soap is to your skin.
In addition to citric acid being added to the BSK soap making process, BSK adds Himalayan pink salt and sodium lactate to every soap formula. Sodium lactate is a natural salt extracted from beets and helps with the hardening of the bar, and is a humectant that helps water be wetter for better and gentler cleaning of the skin. Himalayan pink salt will do the same as sodium lactate and is said to have detoxifying properties. Because this is a wash-off product you really won’t get that benefit from the Himalayan pink salt. But knowing you have a billion-year-old ingredient in your soap is kind of cool!
BSK soap pricing is determined by a few different factors. One is the type of oils and kinds of butter used in a particular formula or recipe. How the soap is scented plays a role, fragrance oils or essential oils, and or the time it takes to make a certain design or soap technique.
You’ll find that BSK soaps are priced much lower than any other handmade soap maker on the market. You will get the same high-quality soap from BSK but at a more affordable price. Not only are getting a great soap you are getting little pieces of art that change during use. Plus you are getting a product made with passion and love. Keep your BSK soap in a dry place after each use and it will last longer for you to enjoy.
BSK is confident that you will enjoy every bar of soap you purchase. Once you had tried BSK soap you'll be hooked and coming back for more! If you find that you are unhappy with a BSK product please reach out to BSK so that we can either replace the product with something you will enjoy or give you a refund on that product.
If you made it this far...
